# SISman SISman was the name given to the anthropomorphic computer mascot that appeared on the home page of [SIS](https://sis.rpi.edu) from 1998[^1] to 2018[^2]. SISman was popular with students both during and after his tenure on SIS, and spawned many derivative works, the most enduring of which being a drawing in the style Shepard Fairey's Obama "Hope" poster, with "hope" being replaced by "suffer." In 2019, a petition[^3] was created to return SISman to SIS, but he has not returned. ## Gallery ___ <div style="width: 100%; display:flex; flex-direction:row; gap:5%"> <div style="width:30%; min-width: 300px"> <img src="/SISman/sisman.png" alt="SISman" style="width: 100%;"> <div style="padding:0.4em 0.6em; width: auto; font-style:italic; text-align:center;"> SISman </div> </div> <div style="width:30%; min-width: 300px"> <img src="/SISman/old_sis.png" alt="SISman on the old SIS homepage" style="width: 100%;"> <div style="padding:0.4em 0.6em; width: auto; font-style:italic; text-align:center;"> Old SIS homepage </div> </div> <div style="width:30%; min-width: 300px"> <img src="/SISman/sisman_suffer.jpg" alt="a drawing of SISman in the style of the Obama Hope poster" style="width: 100%;"> <div style="padding:0.4em 0.6em; width: auto; font-style:italic; text-align:center;"> SISman suffer drawing </div> </div> </div> [^1]: https://web.archive.org/web/19981201235526/http://sis.rpi.edu/ [^2]: https://web.archive.org/web/20181119025436/https://sis.rpi.edu/ [^3]: [sisman_petition.png](/SISman/sisman_petition.png)
