Committee Poems

in 2026, Senator Zach Nobles ‘27 began announced his Student Life Committee meetings with poetic, often inspirational messages.

A message from February 3rd, 2026 states:

HI @Student Life Committee, As Dr. Seuss once said, "today is your day!" Obviously, he was referring to the fact that today is Tuesday when SLC meets at 4:00 PM in the SGS. Here is the agenda: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jzxaNcSIxbTvNBWR2bGCmxFkumkJP1v9rBbo3mwX0Uo/edit?tab=t.0

And from February 10th, 2026:

Hi @Student Life Committee, Brigham Young once looked down on Salt Lake Valley and said "this is the place." Obviously, he had never been to Troy, where SLC will be meeting today at 4:00. Here's the agenda:

Web Technologies Group chairperson, Aaron Niyazov, was inspired by the SLC announcements and decided to also write a poetic announcement message

Dear @Web Technologies Group, 'Tis the midst of winter, and soon the sun shall set. The sky will grow dim, our streets dark. The exams pile on, as we gather in our study halls for collective warmth and solidarity in these trying times. The future looks bleak. Good thing we have future webtech meetings to look forward to! Please fill out the scheduler if you're interested in attending!

This was followed up by an announcement by Griffin Oliver ‘27 for Academic Affairs Committee

Hello everyone. Each day, the sun sets a little later. As winter begins to come to a close, the chance for growth and renewal approaches. The birds are beginning to chirp, and soon the snow will melt. Leaves will return to the trees, and joy will return to our hearts. And yet, when I think of that day I will spend looking out at the sunset, with the spring winds at my back, I can’t help but ask; “what did we leave behind?” What I know we did not leave behind, however, is the Academic Affairs Committee, which meets today at 7 in the SGS
